About Us

Vice Chair- Russell Powell

Along with being Vice Chair I am also responsible for the coordinating the procession and the activities and stalls on the field. I have been on the committee since I was 10 years old and enjoy being part of the Community. In my personal life I work full time in Tesco and I like to play football and rugby in my spare time.

Assistant Secretary-Carly-Jo Morgan

Besides assisting the secretary I also help out to decorate the Queens lorries and our carnival and any other that we may attend in the local area. I have been on the committee for 8 years. Outside of being on the carnival committee I am a registered Child minder and my main hobby is to play darts in the local area.

Queens Secretary- Caroline Jones.

I joined Newtown Carnival Committee 3 years ago and took on the role of assistant queen secretary and was coached by both Many Jones and Lynda Williams who have helped and guided me. This years carnival will be my first as queens secretary. I have learned so much over the last 3 years of how rewarding it is on Carnival Day to see everyone out there on the streets of Newtown come rain or shine and make it all worthwhile. The hard work and dedication form all of us on the committee. Outside of the committee I work full time as a Contact Centre Team Leader.

Secretary- Sarah Taylor

This will be the 8th year that I have been on the committee and as part of my role as secretary i am responsible for taking and typing the minutes from each meeting sending emails and letters to people regarding booking stalls, lorries and organising the programme etc. In the lead up to carnival I am also part of the small team who decorate and build the lorries for the queens, help put up the marquees along with any other duties that need to be done. We also attend other carnivals in the local area like Llanidloes and Rhayder which I work as part of the team to decorate our lorries for these carnivals. It is a lot of hard work but is all worthwhile when I see the streets of Newtown full of smiling faces on carnival day. Outside of the committee I work full time as a Contact Centre Trainer
